JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: SERVICE UNIT ORGANIZER

APPOINTED BY: SERVICE UNIT MANAGER/STEERING COMMITTEE

TERM OF OFFICE: One year (concurrent with Service Unit Manager/Steering Committee)

JOB SUMMARY

Insures that Girl Scout program is available to all interested girls and adults within the Service Unit geographic boundaries
in cooperation with Service Unit ,Service Team and in compliance with Council goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Within the framework of GSUSA and your council, insures that compliance with the regulations governed by the following are met: Policies, Standards, Guidelines and Position Statements, governmental and affiliated organization regulations and standards.

Recruits and recommends to the Service Unit Manager or Steering Committee the appointment of Troop/Group Leaders/Co-Leader( s).

Provides on-going support for Troop/Group sponsorship as delegated by Service Unit Manager/Steering Committee.

Informs girls and adults of individual membership opportunities.

Places individual girls and adults in existing Troops/Groups.

Organizes and reorganizes Troops/Groups as needed. Maintains lists of individual members for Troop placement.

Attends meetings of Service Unit and of the Service Team to report on own work and to share in the work of these groups.

Confers with and reports to the Service Unit Manager or Steering Committee on progress, needs and problems.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Membership in Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.

Accept the principles of the Girl Scout movement and the Girl Scout Promise and law.

Knowledge and understanding of the Girl Scout Program.

-Ability to work with girls and/or adults.

Willingness to acquire and impart information through training, conferences and reports.

Willingness to commit time, energy and interest necessary to meet the requirements.

Ability to organize, direct, delegate and motivate individuals and groups.

Ability to plan, analyze and evaluate data.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
