TITLE:  SERVICE UNIT TREASURER

APPOINTED BY: SERVICE UNIT MANAGER

TERM OF OFFICE: One vear (concurrent with Service Unit Manager/Steering Committee)

JOB SUMMARY

Maintain accurate financial records for Service Unit

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Within framework of GSUSA and your council, insure that compliance with the regulations governed by the following are met: Policies, Standards, Guidelines and Position Statements, governmental and affiliated organization regulations and standards.

Open/maintain checking accounts in accordance with Council policies and procedure.

Keep accurate records of service unit bank account(s), which includes reconciling bank statements monthly w/checkbook, and submit Council form  Non-interest-Bearing Bank Accounts by due dates.

Register all Non-interest-Bearing Bank Accounts with Council controller.

Maintain up-to date inventory of all property/equipment owned by service unit.

Prepare monthly financial statement to be submitted to service unit manager/steering committee. Disburse funds to service unit personnel as needed with proper approval and receipts.

Attend monthly service unit meetings.

Instruct and train troop treasurers/leaders in how to open troop/group bank accounts using W-9 Taxpayer Identification Number.

Keep records of all troop/group banks and account numbers.

Serve as financial resource to troop treasurers/leaders.

Assist troop treasurers/leaders in completing Troop/Group Annual Financial Report by due date.

Maintain records of inactive bank accounts and closed accounts of lapsed troops/groups.

Complete Service Unit Annual Financial Report by due date.

Work with service team to prepare Service Unit Proposed Budget

Assist event chairmen/treasurers with budgets, bank accounts, etc.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Membership in Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.

Accept the principles of the Girl Scout movement and the Girl Scout Promise and law.

Knowledge and understanding of the Girl Scout Program.

Ability to work with girls and/or adults.

Willingness to acquire and impart information through training, conferences and reports.

Willingness to commit time, energy and interest necessary to meet the requirements.

Ability to organize, direct, delegate and motivate individuals and groups.

Ability to plan, analyze and evaluate data.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
